The Brick Oven Bistro

Although Alexander Scagnetti and Michele Sortino never knew each other, their families would later meet and form a friendship that would change their lives forever.
Alexander Scagnetti immigrated to the United States from Codroipo, Italy in 1904. Michele Sortino came over in 1952 from Modica, Sicily. George Sortino, Michele’s son, and Lynn Middleswarth, Alexander’s son-in-law, met and created an instant bond centered around their love of cooking.
The Sortino family had been serving authentic Sicilian cuisine to Sandusky, Ohio since 1952. Their restaurant, Sortino’s Little Italy, is well known and highly regarded as one of the most popular places to eat authentic Sicilian food in Northeast Ohio. Growing up at the restaurant, George Sortino had first-hand experience using brick ovens and felt that the community deserved a restaurant that could showcase the unique flavors this cooking method offered.
Lynn and the Middleswarth family agreed to join the Sortino’s in this venture and The Brick Oven Bistro was born.
With the combination of influences from northern Italy and Sicily, George and Lynn were able to create a unique menu offering appetizers, sandwiches, and gourmet pizzas created and fired in the brick oven.
Try the Pear Gorgonzola Pizza, the Eggplant Toscana Sandwich, or try one of their 75 craft beers offered at their full bar.

Chet & Matt’s Pizza

Slinging pizzas since 1996, brothers Chet and Matt have been serving the Sandusky community for years.
With a long history of working in pizza shops throughout Northeast Ohio, Chet and Matt have been able to perfect their own homemade recipes.
Independently owned and operated, Chett & Matt’s make their own pizza dough and sauce before layering on a secret blend of cheeses and a creative combination of toppings. The brothers’ claim that their thin crust style “lets the pizza’s many flavors power through” and focus on the quality ingredients and toppings.
If you’re up for a challenge, grab a friend and order the King Kong Pizza, a massive 29-inch pie that offers cash and prizes if devoured. (Check out this YouTube video of a King Kong success story!)

Cameo

It was 1936 when Mamma Loccoco began serving her authentic “Old World Style Italian Cooking” to the Sandusky community. From preparing dishes in her kitchen on Monroe Street 83 years ago, Cameo Pizza has expanded to 10 locations but still remains a family-owned and operated business that prides itself on “great food, family values, and personal service”.
With over 62 years of experience in the food service industry, Mamma Loccoco perfected the secret pizza sauce and dough recipe that Cameo uses today. Their business motto, “We Do Not Sacrifice Pennies To Save On Cost, Rather We Invest In The Quality Of Our Pizza” can be seen in their local ingredients and freshly made sauce and dough daily. 100% real cheese, vine-ripened tomatoes, and the best quality herbs and spices are used to make a Cameo pizza, believing strongly that high-quality ingredients lead to a better tasting dish.
Some fan-favorite pizzas include the Cameo 419 (topped with sausage and sauerkraut) and the Cameo All Meat Special (equipped with five different kinds of meat!).

Danny Boy’s

At Danny Boy’s pizza, you’ll find photos of Frank Sinatra on the walls, a deck of cards on every table, and a restaurant of buzzing conversation and full stomachs.
Although Danny Boy’s offers a variety of authentic Italian cuisine, their award-winning pizzas are the most popular item. The “Native” Clevelander pizza offers polish kielbasa, onions, and peppers while The Honey Bee Pie comes topped with pepperoni, bacon, and a drizzle of Stiens Local Ohio Honey.
Not only is Danny Boy’s pizza unique and delicious, it’s also affordable. If a party can agree on a pizza to split, the cost is a cool $25 for 12 slices- that’s just over $2 a slice.
With six locations throughout Northeast Ohio, Danny Boy’s is growing and shows no signs of slowing down.
