The Cleveland personal injury attorneys at Tittle & Perlmuter constantly hear about injuries caused by distracted driving. Sometimes, distracted driving can turn deadly.
Texting While Driving in Lorain County
As recently posted on Cleveland.com, according to police, a Lorain County man was texting while driving his Dodge Ram 1500, a 5126 pound, heavy duty truck. Subsequently, the driver became distracted and failed to see traffic stopped ahead of his truck, which caused him to strike a jeep from behind – the impact was so severe that the Jeep was pushed forward and struck a Ford Focus. The Focus was forced off the road and flipped on its side. Unfortunately, the driver of the Focus, an Elyria, Ohio man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the United States Department of Transportation, cell phones are involved in at least 1.6 million auto crashes each year – these accidents cause a half million injuries and take 6,000 lives. The reason Tittle & Perlmuter exists is to hold texting drivers accountable for their actions and fight for justice on behalf of their clients. When distracted drivers are held accountable for their actions, it will prevent future injuries and death from occurring.
